Thusharagiri

Situated 50 km from Kozhikode, the area is surrounded by plantations, streams, and verdant forests. Edakkal Caves

Edakkal Caves most famous caves of BC era in Wayanad, Kerala, India. Inside the caves is pictorial writings and painting on rocks carving of 6,000 BC. The cave carvings point to age of Mesolithic era (middle stone-age).

Banasura Sagar Dam

Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earthen dam in India. Mounds of stones and boulders have been placed together to form a strong embankment. The dam is built across River Karamanathodu, a tributary of River Kabini. The dam, its reservoir, and the small islands, against the backdrop of a majestic hill, form a calming visual.

Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary

Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1973, is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The sanctuary lays emphasis on scientific conservation with due consideration for the general lifestyle of the tribals and others who live in and around the forest region. The Sanctuary has a large population of pachyderms and has been declared a Project Elephant site. Various species of deer, monkeys and birds live here. The Reserve is also home to a profusion of birds, butterflies, and insects.

Kuruva Island

Kuruva Island (or Kuruva Dweep) in Wayanad is a favourite among experience-seekers for its serenity and natural beauty. It is a protected river delta, densely populated with rich flora and fauna. It is formed by a cluster of islets in the middle of River Kabini. The island is uninhabited by humans, but it is home to many other living species.

Chembra Peak

Chembra Peak, situated 2,100 m above sea level, is the highest peak in Wayanad district. This peak offers an excellent view of rare flora and fauna. For trekkers, this is a favorite location. Prior permission is required for trekking in this area.

Pookot Lake

Pookot Lake is fascinating freshwater lake situated located 3 kilometers away from Vythiri town. Lush green forests and mist-covered hills provides an unforgettable background to the lake. boating in the lake is a preferable sport.

Chain Tree

Chain Tree, located at Lakkidi, along the national highway, is a Ficus tree with a massive steel chain hanging on it. The history of Chain Tree is associated with a local tribal called Karinthandan, who was killed by the British after taking his help to discover the routes through the ghat. It is believed that the ghost of this local tribal chieftain which had been haunting the area had been chained to this Ficus Tree.

Pakshipathalam

Pakshipathalam trek is a trek through the hills in Wayanad, Kerala, that is accessible only through trekking trails. The name translates to "abode of birds" in Malayalam, and true to its name, it's the home to several rare species of birds, most prominently, bats. This makes for a great one-day excursion in Wayanad.

Meenmutty Waterfalls
